Scholarship Support For Students: Over 1.44 Crore SC Students Benefited

 New Delhi, September 10, 2026: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has reported that more than 1.44 crore Scheduled Caste (SC) students have benefited from Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Schemes. The total scholarship support reported is ?12,773 crore.

The government said these scholarship programmes are intended to improve access to education and support students from disadvantaged communities.

 Key Highlights

• 1.44+ crore SC students benefited from Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships.
• ?12,773 crore in scholarship assistance was reported.
• More than 1.01 crore OBC and EBC students also received scholarship assistance of ?2,445.05 crore.
• The Post-Matric Scholarship for SC students provides financial assistance for studies after the matriculation/secondary stage.
• The government uses Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for the Post-Matric SC scholarship scheme.
